5 minutes with family solicitor, Louise Kiely
Louise is a solicitor in the Family team and is based in our Bristol office. She qualified as a solicitor in July 2020 and has extensive experience in dealing with private family law issues including relationship breakdown, divorce, finance and children issues. We caught up with Louise to find out more about her life as a family solicitor.
Which areas of family law do you specialise in?
I advise in all areas of family law, particularly relationship breakdown, divorce and financial matters.
What made you decide to become a family solicitor?
When starting out in my legal career I thought family law would be for me. Helping people at what can be one of the toughest times in their lives and knowing that I can take the pressure off a little can be very rewarding.
What is your favourite part of the job?
Meeting clients and understanding their situation.
What do you wish people knew about family law when they’re considering getting in touch with a solicitor?
Family lawyers are there to help you move through the process and not to be prohibitive. It is best to get advice early on in the process from an approachable and understanding lawyer. GL will guide you through and explain the process clearly.
If you hadn’t become a solicitor, what would you be doing now?
I would still be in the childcare sector. However I may have considered photography.
When you’re not working, where would we find you?
In the countryside walking my spaniel. No doubt stopping at a nice country pub for some lunch.
What’s your dream holiday destination?
Australia, I was hoping to see the New Years Eve firework display this year. Sadly Covid 19 put a stop to that, maybe next year!
You’re usually the one giving out advice, but what’s the last piece of good advice you were given?
You can only control the controllable, so do not worry about the things you can’t they will happen anyway.
