GL Law flies high with ‘rarely achieved’ quality standards

08 December 2020 | Richard Hill

Leading Bristol legal firm Gregg Latchams who are now branded GL Law has been recognised by The Law Society for its exceptionally high levels of client care and practice management.

When assessing the firm as part of its Lexcel quality mark scheme, GL Law was commended by the Law Society for its perfect scorecard and earning results ‘rarely achieved’.

Only legal organisations which demonstrate the highest standards across seven key performance areas can become Lexcel accredited. Firms must show competence in client care and file and case management, people management, information and financial management, structure and strategy and risk management.

Lexcel assessors were particularly impressed with GL Law in achieving zero non-compliances during rigorous scrutiny of case files and interviews with fee earners and support staff.

The Lexcel accreditation team said; “The many areas of good practice stand testament to the resilience and adaptability of this practice, under strong managerial and financial leadership and established executive teams.”

GL Law was also lauded for its navigation of the pandemic and the consideration it gave to its people, clients and commercial obligations;

Amidst lockdown and the challenges of remote working and making the office Covid-secure, the practice has maintained service delivery standards to meet the heightened expectations of private and commercial clients, as shown by the high client satisfaction levels.

“Furthermore, Marketing and Business Development activity shows the acuity of tapping into areas of real concern to such clients arising from lockdown and the imminent departure of the UK from the European Union,” added Lexcel.

Commenting on GL Law’s success, Managing Director, Richard Hill, said; “I am so proud of the whole team in achieving this accreditation in the face of a pandemic we were able to have every member of staff working safely from home before lock down in April using GL supplied resources. Lexcel is a very rigorous assessment so no mean feat getting feedback like this. It has been a challenging year of course, but it’s also provided the ultimate stress test for our business model to see how well we can pull together and perform in tough times.”
