Gregg Latchams advises AccelerComm on £2.5m funding round

05 February 2019 |

Gregg Latchams has advised AccelerComm, an exciting advanced technology communications company which originated from research at the University of Southampton’s Electronics and Computer Science department in 2015, on a £2.5 million investment round led by Bloc Ventures and IP Group.

AccelerComm’s products increase spectrum efficiency and lower power consumption in mobile phone networks and other communication systems. For example, AccelerComm turbo decoder enables 4G (LTE) wireless systems to transmit data up to ten times faster than other 4G system implementations. To put it more simply, AccelerComm’s technology will help enable mobile users to experience the same high speeds and low latency as they would with a fibre broadband connection in their homes.

The Gregg Latchams team was led by Ed Boal, senior associate and head of Digital Media & Technology, supported by corporate associate Ben Harris and corporate solicitor Laura Dodds.

Dr Tom Cronk, Chief Executive Officer, said:

“The excellent professional support Gregg Latchams has provided in securing this funding round enables AccelerComm to scale our product roadmap for more applications and future cellular standards for years to come.”

Ed Boal commented:

“AccelerComm’s game-changing technology has the backing of an impressive list of companies in the wireless communications space and we are delighted to have supported them as they continue to scale the business and explore new commercial partnerships around the world.”

Gregg Latchams advises a range of high-growth technology companies across the South West and beyond on everything from securing venture capital investment to technology agreements, projects and transactions.
