Martino Burgess Appointed to West of England Local Enterprise Partnership

26 January 2018 |

Our Head of Bristol Corporate SME, Martino Burgess, has recently been appointed to join the board of the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership. As one of the business representatives, she will sit alongside the West of England Mayor, Tim Bowles, and the leaders of the four local authorities that make up the region.

In her new role as a board member of the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, Martino will help shape the economic future of the region and champion the West of England at a regional, national, and international level.

Martino shared: “I am incredibly honoured to be appointed to the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, where I can share my twin passions for the region and for business growth. The West of England has a huge amount to offer not just to the UK but the world, and I’ll be driving forward opportunities for Bristol and West of England businesses on this global stage.”

Chosen for her incredible knowledge of the region and her keen understanding of the challenges that the region faces, Martino will be working to deliver the key goals of the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership:

  • The creation of 95,000 new jobs by 2030
  • To achieve 3.4% annual growth by 2020
  • To ensure over £1 billion of private sector investment over the next 3 years
  • A well-motivated workforce with the skills that business needs
  • The foundations for a long-term sustainable economy.

These are not small goals, but Martino has a broad vision and will be working closely with the other board members of the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership to achieve its purpose: to secure the region’s continuing and ambitious economic success, to ensure the region’s attractiveness as a place for its residents to live and thrive, and for businesses and communities to grow in a sustainable way.
