Pricing for Business Immigration Applications for Individuals

Having expert legal assistance from our business immigration lawyers can help clear things up and allow you to quickly and efficiently sort out any issues you are facing regarding a visa or other immigration issues, whether as an employer or as an individual.

One or more of GL Law’s business immigration team will work on your application. Our pricing is based on the time spent at the relevant team member’s hourly rates. Our hourly rates in the immigration team vary as follows;

  • Directors/Associate Directors: £270 – £280 + VAT (Total incl VAT: £324 – £336)
  • Head of Department: £250 + VAT (Total incl VAT: £300)
  • Junior Lawyer: £180 + VAT (Total incl VAT: £216)
  • Trainee Lawyer: £120 + VAT (Total incl VAT: £144)

We may in some circumstances agree different hourly rates with you. The fees involved can vary depending on the complexity of the matter. We offer both fixed fees and hourly rates, whereby you will be charged for each hour of work undertaken.

The prices set out below for the various types of application listed are an estimated range of costs for a ‘Standard’ immigration application. A Standard application will normally involve one applicant, with no prior criminal or civil convictions, no adverse immigration history, who meets the eligibility criteria for the immigration route they are applying for, is using a standard (as opposed to priority) processing route, and with an application bundle of no more than 200 pages.

What services are included?

The work will involve:

  • Discussing your circumstances in detail and confirming whether this is the most appropriate application for you to make and what other options may be available to you;
  • Giving you advice about the requirements of the immigration rules and whether you meet the criteria;
  • If you do not fulfil certain criteria, whether this can be overcome and how.;
  • Considering and collating the supporting evidence you have provided;
  • Where necessary, helping you obtain further evidence (such as medical records and bank statements), including taking statements of any witnesses;
  • Preparing your application and submitting it on your behalf; Assistance with attendance at a Home Office interview.If the Home Office ask you to attend an interview, we will give you clear advice, at the appropriate time.
  • Giving you advice about the outcome of the application and any further steps you need to take.
  • The amount of hours depends on the number of documents, whether they need to be translated, whether anything is missing and how long it will take to obtain the missing documents.

Our fees do not include the cost of an interpreter as these are difficult to estimate. The range of hours required will usually be between 2 and 15 hours, however, this depends on the complexity of your case and we will need to discuss this with you further.

We would recommend where possible that you bring a friend or trusted community figure to assist you. We will recommend an interpreter for you where required, however if you know of someone you would prefer to use, we can of course accommodate this.

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as Home Office visa application fees or translation fees – we may handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process, but in some circumstances you may be asked to pay these fees direct.

Likely disbursements may include:

  • The Home Office visa application fee relevant to the type of your application.Additionally, higher fees will be payable for ‘priority’ or ‘super priority’ applications.
  • The Immigration Health Surcharge (where applicable)
  • Document translation fees (normally dependent upon the language translated and the volume required)
  • English Language Test fees or NARIC comparability/English Language proficiency statements, which are variable dependent on the country of application and the method used to demonstrate required English language skills.
  • Tuberculosis test certificates (where required)
  • Criminal record certificates (where required)
  • Travel costs that we might incur, for example through meeting with you or accompanying you at Home Office meetings.
  • Barristers’ fees (where we consider involvement of a specialist immigration barrister is required).

Standard UK VAT will be charged on most disbursements where applicable.

In the event that the issues become more complex and there is likely to be any additional cost, we will make sure you are informed of this at the earliest opportunity and a clear estimate of those extra costs will be provided.

Factors that may lead to an increase in cost include:

  • Necessary advice given due to the complexity of the matter, including advice on such matters as adverse immigration history, prior criminal convictions or any other possible bars to a successful application.
  • The preparation and review of any additional documentation required because of the complexity of the application.
  • Liaising with the Home Office and any overseas application centre due to the complexity of your application or because of the need for fast track priority processing.
  • The costs for work to include any family member on your application at the same time as you.
  • Where the Home Office refuse your application, advice and assistance in relation to any administrative review or appeal.

Time scales

The exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as:

  • The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider.
  • Which language(s) you speak.
  • Whether you are applying with other dependents.

If you are able to provide sufficient evidence at our first meeting and clearly meet the applicable immigration rules, the cost is likely to be at the lower end of this range.

We cannot guarantee how long the Home Office will take to process your application. Read the current processing times.

We will normally be able to submit this type of application within 4-6 weeks of you instructing us, but we will let you know at the earliest opportunity if it is likely to take longer than this.

Please note the anticipated number of hours and fees are an estimate based on the facts above. All applications are likely to vary and of course, we can give you a more accurate estimate once we have more information about your specific case.
