Licensing Applications Pricing

The fees involved in licensing applications vary and it is not always possible to provide a fixed fee in this regard. However, we can give you a range of fees, based on the complexity of your applications.

Licensing Applications

The complexity of an application may vary depending on factors such as whether there is a cumulative impact policy in place, the type and size of the premises or whether the premises are in a residential area.

One or more of Gregg Latchams’ business immigration team will work on your application. Our pricing is based on the time spent at the relevant team member’s hourly rates. Our hourly rates in the immigration team vary as follows;

  • Directors/Associate Directors: £280 – £270 + VAT
  • Head of Department: £250 + VAT
  • Junior Lawyer: £180 + VAT
  • Trainee Lawyer: £120 + VAT

We may in some circumstances agree different hourly rates with you. The fees involved can vary depending on the complexity of the matter. We offer both fixed fees and hourly rates, whereby you will be charged for each hour of work undertaken.

Pricing

The *fee scale outlined below is calculated on the average cost of applying for a new premises licence (under Section 17 of the Licensing Act 2003), or to vary a licence (Section 34 of the Licensing Act 2003), to allow an ‘average’ business to carry out one or more licensable activities. In some circumstances, such as applying for a premises licence for a large, one-off, or unusual event, the fees outlined below will not be appropriate. In this case, we would supply a bespoke estimate.

The details

Fees include:

  • taking your instructions
  • advising you how to promote the licensing objectives within your premises licence application
  • advising on the type of plans required to accompany your application
  • completing and submitting the application
  • disclosing the application to the responsible authorities
  • making arrangements for the necessary advertising of the application.

Exclusions

The fees outlined do not include:

  • obtaining suitable plans
  • attending pre-consultation meetings with the Licensing Authority or Responsible Authorities, nor their fee for this meeting.
  • dealing with or advising you in relation to queries or representations received from either the responsible authorities or other interested parties
  • advising on varying the licence
  • attendance and representation at a licensing sub-committee hearing of the responsible authority. If representations are received and attendance and representation at a licensing sub-committee is required then we will provide a separate fee estimate for this work which will be charged at an hourly rate.

Time scales

A typical application will take between 6-8 weeks, from receipt of full instructions from you. This is on the basis that the application is relatively straightforward and that we have been provided with all the documents required in a timely manner. Where an application is more complex, as detailed above, or there is substantial opposition from other parties, it may take longer. We will discuss any changes to timescales with you as appropriate, so you always have a realistic idea of how long your licensing application should take.

Key milestones

With every transaction there are key milestones; our fee will include these milestones and may be as follows:

  • Advising on the type of plans required to accompany their application
  • Completing and submitting the application
